Why Japan? 2017 was a breakout year for cryptocurrency and the Fintech industry. The world is finally starting to realize the full potential of the blockchain — and given the rise in popularity of cryptocurrencies, people are beginning to take notice. Government and regulatory bodies are also getting involved, with many of them placing restrictions on crypto related activities due to it’s “unregulated” functionality. While some nations are calling for an all-out ban, Japan is taking a very different approach — not only adapting to the new technology but embracing it. Contrary to some of its neighboring countries, Japan is giving blockchain-related activities a stamp of approval and has subsequently released a tidal wave of innovation for new ventures. As a result, new opportunities such as trading exchanges, ICOs, and blockchain startups are turning Japan into a global leader in financial technology (FinTech). This makes Japan (specifically Tokyo) the perfect place to gather and talk about everything BLOCKCHAIN!
