Key factors for successful communication for startups and corporations

Running one of the main workshops at Techsauce Global Summit 2018, Aristotle’s Cafe Founder and Lead Trainer Hassan Ghiassi talks about the key factors for successful communication for startups and corporations.

With Techsauce Global Summit 2018 being bigger than ever this year, Techsauce wants to give you a little tease as to what to expect from one of our workshops that we are hosting on June 22-23, 2018 at Centara Grand, Bangkok.

This year we have Hassan Ghiassi, the founder and lead trainer at Aristotle’s Cafe, a 13-year-old project that allows participants to practice their ability to communicate, disagree, agree, and also think critically.  He will be teaching “3 Pillars of Effective Communication - A Recipe for Success in 2018”

What’s Aristotle’s Cafe?

It’s a network of people holding sessions to discuss various topics to practice their communication skills.  Each session is free and last 1 hour.  Participants write down questions on not cards, which are then used as discussion points.  With no need to prepare ahead of time, those taking part just show up and use their communication skills to share their ideas and opinions.

So far 8,000 people have join sessions in North America, Europe, and Asia.  Aristotle’s Cafe has just held their 100th discussion on May 1, 2018 and the community is growing in collaboration with Thammasat University, Hubba, and theCOMMONS.

Techsauce interviewed Ghiassi on his thoughts the key factors to successful communication for startups and corporates and negotiations.

Keeping talent and a clear Unique Value Proposition

Having worked with a variety of different industries Ghiassi says the key challenges for startups and corporates are keeping talent and expressing a clear Unique Value Proposition.

Ghiassi says communication is extremely important when it comes to the ability to find the right people and keep them there.

Effective strategies can be worked into every aspect of the recruitment and hiring process so that candidates are motivated by elements that align with organizational values, and once hired have the ability to find professional development opportunities that give them a growth path.

The second challenge that has been observed by Ghiassi the most is organizations have a difficult time expressing their Unique Value Proposition in a way that successfully incorporates the 3 Pillars of Effective Communication.

The UVP should be found throughout every aspect of their messaging, it’s the most important element to success.

Ghiassi says time should be spent making the value proposition powerful and concise.  Once this happens not only the Founders or upper management will express it well, but so will everyone in the organization.

Successful Negotiations come from research and communication

Ghiassi says the top elements for successful negotiations is doing your homework and communicating right.

Research means doing your homework and learning as much as possible about the person or organization that you’re negotiating with - understanding their pain points, their wants, their needs, and their budget.

Communication means adapting what you will say and how you will say it so that they are able to understand the value that working with you, investing in you, or joining your team brings them.

What should we expect from Ghiassi’s workshop: 3 Pillars of Effective Communication - A Recipe for Success in 2018?

Ghiassi: There is a simple technique that I’ve coached and trained people and organizations in over the past decade that’s had great results. To give a brief overview - as humans we all share a few basic instincts when making a decision -  In fact, it’s extremely simple and it’s a technique that’s been used for almost 2,400 years.  This workshop will be perfect for anyone looking to negotiate better, get investment, or just communicate more effectively.
