Silk Road Startup Summit will be the first ever invite-only startup and entrepreneurship event in Iran which aims to gather the best startups from around the country in one place next to European leaders for a two-day conference in Kish Island. The Summit is scheduled for the first quarter of 2018.

Silk Road Startup is co-organized by TechRasa and Hamfekr along with a team of startup community builders and volunteers from around Iran. The event is supported by Iran’s Vice-Presidency for Science and Technology, The Innovation Acceleration Center, Tehran Chamber of Commerce, and a number of Science and Technology Parks, universities and startups from around the country.

Silk Road Startup’s Road Trip will be kicked off on Sunday, October 22nd. A team of Iranian and international entrepreneurs and investors will take a 10-day bus tour to 7 cities of Iran in search of the best startups around the country.

It is organizing the first ever series of pitch competitions around Iran with the aim of tracking the country’s top startups. 400 applicants have registered for the pitch competitions, of which 100 have been selected to pitch in front of a team of local and international jury in 7 cities of the country. Selected startups will be invited to attend workshops on pitching prior to the local events in each city.

5 European jury members are joining Silk Road Startups Road Trip. The international jury team include Luca Banderet, CEO & Founder of 12 Ventures, Kiran Maverick Founder of I Am Tomorrow and The August Fest, Franck Nouyrigat, Founder of ReCorp, Aurélie Salvaire, Founder of The A Factor and Shiftbalance and Anne-Sophie Dutat, serial entrepreneur & startup advisor. A number of Iranian entrepreneurs and investors are also expected to join the Road Trip.

Silk Road Startup Road Trip will be held from October 22nd to 31st in the cities of Tabriz, Tehran, Isfahan, Yazd, Shiraz, Mashhad and Rasht. The 10 best startups from these cities will receive partner prizes, media features, and potential investment and a round trip from their cities to Kish Island in order to present their startups at the finals.
