Gunkul signs MOU for a Strategic Partnership to advance the Cannabis Business

SET-listed Gunkul Engineering or GUNKUL, strengthens its position in the cannabis and hemp industry by partnering with Pacific Cannovation Group (PACCAN), a comprehensive cannabis and hemp service provider, and DOD BioTech Public Company Limited (DOD), a leading company in modern production technology.

The collaboration aims to develop a range of health-centric products containing extracts from cannabis for medical benefits, with the goal of becoming a leading exporter of cannabis and medical marijuana products to the global market. The company also plans to expand distribution channels for new products, anticipating a two-fold growth in 2024.

Mrs. Sopacha Dhumrongpiyawut, Chairman of the Executive Committee of Gunkul, stated “Gunkul has prioritized setting high standards for operations and medical products since the company's decision to enter the cannabis and hemp business. Our goal has always been to cultivate high-quality cannabis suitable for medical use. Currently, the company has expanded cultivation across 14 fully operational greenhouses covering an area of over 60 rai. Additionally, we have acquired a GMP/HACCP-certified CBD extraction facility in Pathum Thani province. The Cannabis Medical Use Certification (CUMCS) from Control Union emphasizes the continuous commitment of GUNKUL to uphold cultivation and production standards. We extend our gratitude to all customers, both domestic and international, for their trust in us during the past year.

To enhance competitiveness and meet the growing global market demand, GUNKUL sees strategic collaborations with partners such as PACCAN, a strong player in cannabis cultivation and international export, and DOD BioTech, a leading OEM in modern production technology, paving the way for GUNKUL to achieve its future goals of becoming a stable exporter of cannabis flowers and medical marijuana.”

Mr. Suranarong Wongsankakorn, Senior Vice President of GUNKUL's Cannabis Business, added, "Our group of companies is confident in the quality of cannabis flowers and extracts produced through hydroponic cultivation in greenhouses. In the past year, we have delivered over 2,000 kilograms of dried flowers. Our cannabis business extends to CBD extraction services, and we are now welcoming new customers who may already have raw materials but are looking for an extraction facility that understands medical grade standards.

In addition to existing products such as craft sodas or herbal teas for health, this year, we have introduced new health-centric products, including CBD softgels, which we believe will contribute positively to the domestic market. We are currently open to interested parties who wish to join us in product development. Our company places great importance on product standards and personnel to ensure that cannabis and hemp products are used based on accurate and risk-free knowledge, benefiting society."

GUNKUL Engineering Public Company Limited operates diverse business segments, including manufacturing, sourcing, and distributing electrical system equipment, power station construction, and the production and distribution of electricity from renewable energy. The company also has a cannabis business under its subsidiary, G.K. Hemp Group, which comprises two sub-businesses: G.K. Smart Farming, managing hydroponic greenhouses with RO (Reverse Osmosis) water systems in Nakhon Ratchasima, and G.K. Bio Extraction, operating an extraction facility in Nakhon Pathom with a production capacity of 200 kilograms per day (dried flowers).
