The annual Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Spring Edition) and International ICT Expo will be held concurrently at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) from 13 to 16 April 2019. Organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the two fairs will enter their 16thedition to provide an international platform for more than 3,500 exhibitors to showcase the latest electronics, cutting-edge technology and ICT solutions to global buyers. In 2018, the twin fairs welcomed more than 98,000 buyers from 151 countries and regions.
Benjamin Chau, Deputy Executive Director, HKTDC, said, “The Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Spring Edition) is the largest spring electronics event in Asia featuring more than 2,900 exhibitors this year. Held concurrently under the same roof is the International ICT Expo, themed under “Smart City • Smart Living”, showcasing solutions from more than 600 exhibitors to create cross-sector business opportunities for the industry.”
The Spring Electronics Fair will feature the Tech Hall with five thematic zones: AR, VR & MR, Connected Home, e-Health & Wearables, Robotics & Unmanned Tech and the newly launched AI & Voice Recognition.
A Mainland Chinese exhibitor will present OBSBOT Tail, an AI-powered autonomous director camera using AI technology and gimbal to follow a pre-determined subject. A set of advanced algorithms enables the camera to track, record and capture the active movements in 4K automatically even in a complicated environment. It also allows users to edit and share their video with a few taps.
The popular Hall of Fame will showcase more than 600 internationally renowned brands including Bourgini, Desay, ezviz, Garmin, Greatwall, SKROSS and Tuya. Meanwhile, key electronics production centres including Mainland China, Korea and Taiwan, will have group pavilions at the fair.
A series of events will be organised during the fair including the one-day anchor conference “Tech Trends Symposium”. Themed under “Roadmap to the Future”, the Symposium will discuss the latest technology and application trends in AI and voice recognition technology, robotics, connected home and wise living, wearable technology, as well as AR, VR and MR.
Running concurrently with the Spring Electronics Fair, the ICT Expo is the leading event for cutting-edge smart city solutions and ICT technologies across all sectors. Under the theme “Smart City • Smart Living”, the fair will showcase a range of smart city solutions including smart economy, smart environment, smart government, smart living, smart mobility and smart people.
The Office of the Government Chief Information Officer (OGCIO) will set up the “Smart Government Pavilion” at the expo to showcase a number of innovation and technology (I&T) initiatives such as electronic identity (eID), smart lamppost that can track traffic and collect environmental data, intelligent transport system with the use of in-vehicle unit and the use of virtual reality technology for training. The Pavilion will also feature the upcoming “Smart Government Innovation Lab”. The Lab aims to facilitate the adoption of I&T to enhance public services by inviting the industry to put forward proposals of I&T applications and product suggestions for addressing challenges in public services, and conducting trials and technology testing of suitable proposals.
The “So French So Innovative” Pavilion will showcase smart city solutions designed by French corporations, SMEs and start-ups. Some of the highlighted solutions include a tool developed by STMicroelectronics named as “STM32Cube.AI”, which takes the pre-trained neural network model output from a broad range of AI frameworks and optimises DNNs (Deep Neural Network) for a microcontroller. Schneider Electric will showcase EcoStruxure™, an IoT-enabled, plug-and-play, open, interoperable architecture and platform to be used in homes, buildings, data centres, infrastructure and industries. Other companies such as Capgemini, Dragages, Thales, RATP-Transdev, Suez and Surys will also showcase the best in French innovation. Various events and talks featuring key industry players will also be held to discuss solutions for building smart city.
Another key exhibitor, SenseTime, will showcase face recognition, video structuralisation, and intelligent video analysis technologies. Their algorithms have been implemented in many of the Mainland Chinese Smart City and Safe City projects, helping municipal administrations be more efficient and effective. Featured solutions include SenseKeeper, a smart gate keeper supporting a variety of authentication methods such as ID card, IC card and facial recognition, as well as SenseDrive DMS which is a comprehensive solution supporting facial recognition and fatigue/attention detection, assuring a safer driving experience.
Other featured exhibitors at the expo include Cyberport, Hong Kong Airport Authority, Joint Electronic Teller Services Ltd (JETCO), Microsoft, NEC, Science Park, Smart City Consortium and Xiaoi Robot among others. Group pavilions from Canada, India, as well as Guangdong, Hangzhou, Qingdao and Xiamen of Mainland China will also share their smart city solutions and applications.
Held concurrently at the HKCEC from 15 to 16 April and jointly organised by the Hong Kong SAR Government and Cyberport, the Internet Economy Summit (IES) returns to examine how businesses can leverage data-driven innovations to capitalise on opportunities in the connected world, featuring more than 40 captivating keynotes and panel sessions by the industry’s renowned thought leaders and experts from Alibaba, Amazon Web Services, Twitter, AXA, ZhongAn, Tencent, HP and more.
Other events will be arranged under the daily theme of “AIoT - Next-Gen Connectivity”, “Data as Currency of the Future”, “Smart Living Powered by Technologies” and “Reinventing Business with Smart Solutions”, providing market intelligence to industry players.
The SME IT Clinic will continue to provide complimentary professional consultation services on ICT solutions to help SMEs enhance business efficiency. The winners of the Hong Kong ICT Awards 2019, organised by the OGCIO, will also showcase their products and solutions at the expo.
The popular Startup zone will return to the twin fairs to feature innovations across different categories such as Apps, IoT, Consumer Tech, eHealth, Robotics and Digital Business. To help start-ups gain exposure and meet potential investors, a series of start-up themed events including Smart Launch sessions, pitching sessions, media pitch day and investment matchmaking sessions will be organised.
A Hong Kong exhibitor will present Yomee, a fully automatic and connected yogurt maker with self-cleaning and App-controlled functions. By adding the Yomee pod, which is natural and completely soluble, to milk and select the yogurt type via the dedicated App, the fresh yogurt will be available in six hours.
