Lark Mail Set to Flip Traditional Email on its Head

Digital collaboration suite Lark redefines business communications with Lark Mail.

The office experience and the way we work will forever be changed and could never be the same as during pre-COVID-19. From working alongside colleagues in the city, to now searching for any personal space we can find, each of us have found a new way of communicating. The computer screen is no longer just for writing emails and preparing documents. It has now become the only channel through which we interact with everyone, both inside and outside the organization, complicating communication as we know it.

From early in the morning to, for some, late at night, working hours have also shifted. The way we interact has become more efficient. However the increased interactions between large groups of people can be overwhelming. Instead of helping to improve the speed of work, it could be challenging to deal with various platforms and messages between team members. It can also be hard to see the big picture.

The use of traditional emails can result in information silos, where data or work is produced in a duplicated manner and job roles are redundant. This in turn increases costs and the organization suffers from the lack of synergy. Synergy is crucial in an age where organizations strive to have every department work together by sharing, cross-referencing, and interpreting information with one another.

Business communication cannot depend solely on traditional email. Work now relies on using a platform, which integrates everything into one place, from email, cloud storage, and video conference.

Digital collaboration suite Lark is set to change the game of online collaboration. Lark is redefining the email experience for enterprises with Lark Mail, a new email that seamlessly integrates with Lark’s suite of collaboration tools including Messenger, Video Calling, Docs and Sheets, Cloud Storage, and Calendar. It is set to break the barrier of information as email continues to be a siloed form of communication that keeps data away from teams who primarily communicate using digital collaboration platforms.

“Email remains a core component to the workflow of many organizations, but its separation from other collaborative tools such as messenger creates bottlenecks in productivity and makes it hard to stay on the same page," said Joey Lim, Lark VP of Commercial, Asia.

Here is a runthrough of what Lark Mail offers:

Email a Chat Group: Users can input the names of not just individual colleagues, but chat groups in the recipient field.

Smart Inbox: Lark Mail automatically surfaces "Priority" emails first so users can see what's important at a glance.

Quick Permissions: When sending a Lark Doc in an email, users can see clearly whether the recipients have access to it or not, and give them the permission to read or edit the Lark Doc with one click.

Out-of-Office Reply: Create a personalized out-of-office reply to automatically respond to emails you receive when on a business trip or leave.

Gmail Integration: Already comfortable with where you are at with a Gmail account? Users can now link their Gmail accounts to Lark to enjoy the integration between email, messenger, and drive.

These latest features will be a game changer for the way people work. According to Joey Lim, Lark VP of Commercial, Asia, “Lark Mail's integration of email with Messenger, Video Calling, Docs, Cloud Storage and Calendar will break down these barriers and transform the way email is used within our customers' organizations.”

If this transformation is successful, it will not only bring more efficiency to the way we work, but also perhaps help us feel somewhat more “comfortable” with our new way of working.

Lark Mail, along with the rest of Lark’s suite of collaboration tools consisting of 200GB cloud storage, 500GB email storage and unlimited video call minutes, are available free for businesses in Southeast Asia.
