KBank teams with Rabbit LINE Pay in launching LINE POINTS Credit Card Featuring LINE FRIENDS characters to tap into new generation

KASIKORNBANK (KBank) and Rabbit LINE Pay have debuted “LINE POINTS Credit Card”, featuring cute LINE FRIENDS characters, including Brown, Cony and Sally. To capitalize on the ‘new normal’ spending trend, the LINE POINTS Credit Card is designed specifically for the new generation group who prefers using a credit card in their daily lives. Under the “Get Lots of Points Fast – Let’s Spend to the Fullest!” concept, cardholders will be entitled to multiple privileges including 3-percent LINE POINTS of any purchase amount with no limit*, and 1 LINE POINT equal to 1 Baht when redeeming LINE POINTS for products or services from more than 300,000 participating merchants which are Rabbit LINE Pay’s alliance partners. In a new improvement for point redemption, cardholders can redeem their LINE POINTS within just one day. KBank aims to see 135,000 LINE POINTS Credit Cards issued with spending of 2.9 billion Baht within one year.

Mr. Vithaya Topoyossakul and Mrs. Chalarat Phinitbenchaphol

Mrs. Chalarat Phinitbenchaphol, KBank Executive Vice President, noted that KBank has collaborated with Rabbit LINE Pay in facilitating customers’ daily spending through the added payment channel. This cooperative effort reinforces KBank’s strategy of leveraging strengths within partnership ecosystems so as to deliver services that are suited to the new generation’s lifestyle. The initiative also aims to promote cashless payment that is more convenient and secure while also reducing the risk of viral transmission amid the COVID-19 resurgence. Of late, the new generation consumers, especially those living in large cities, have increasingly used credit cards for everyday expenses. As evidenced, spending amounts are usually modest, and they often swipe their card for payment of BTS tickets or purchases at ‘grab-and-go’ food stores.

The LINE POINTS Credit Card meets the ‘new normal’ lifestyle needs of consumers, who prefer to shop online and are familiar with e-Wallet use. LINE POINTS Credit Cardholders can easily and quickly earn many LINE POINTS for all spending done with this credit card. To enjoy the best value for money, they can use the LINE POINTS earned as a discount for the purchase of an array of products and services from more than 300,000 retail stores via smartphone. Additionally, LINE POINTS Credit Card is under the Visa brand that has a global payment network of more than 70 million merchants, allowing holders to use the LINE POINTS Credit Card more conveniently and securely, anywhere, anytime.  With the numerous strengths of the LINE POINTS Credit Card, KBank hopes to attract the target group to apply for and spend with this credit card.

Mr. Vithaya Topoyossakul, CEO, Rabbit-LINE Pay Company Limited, said that the present collaboration with KBank represents an important milestone for Rabbit LINE Pay as it underscores the company’s determination to offer products and services that are precisely in alignment with the lifestyles of ‘new generation’ consumers. Aside from cementing the strengths of Rabbit LINE Pay as a service provider of e-Wallet, aimed at making spending via smartphone more convenient in line with lifestyles of the digital era, this collaboration will also offer customers the best cash-like value points, allowing them to enjoy collecting and redeeming LINE POINTS for products and services, both online and offline, with participating merchants. It has been found that most consumers prefer to redeem LINE POINTS for discounts on food and beverages, plus delivery services, such as LINE MAN, AIS top up or bill payments, BTS ticket top up or payments, and LINE SHOPPING.

The LINE POINTS Credit Card will play a vital role in expanding the Rabbit LINE Pay customer base which currently exceeds 8 million users, representing 20 percent growth from the previous year. Of that number, 6 million users are using the Rabbit LINE Pay e-wallet, and up to 5 million debit/credit cards are linked to the service. The Rabbit LINE Pay service also strengthens the ecosystem of LINE, Thailand’s leading social platform – which continues to see a growing number of users. Based on the latest data in March 2021, the number of LINE users in Thailand amounts to 49 million accounts.
