Global accelerator IoT Tribe kicks off the 1st Deep Tech Accelerator cohort in Singapore

 IoT Tribe

IoT Tribe, the global equity-free accelerator for market-ready tech startups, and partner of the Global Innovation Alliance initiative by Enterprise Singapore and the Singapore Economic Development Board has kicked off its first cohort focused on deep-tech in Singapore yesterday.

Singapore is strengthening its support for deep-tech startups. Over the next five years, the government will dedicate an additional S$300 million under the Startup SG Equity. They expect to attract more than S$800 million of private funding over the next decade. This will offer deep-tech startups better access to the capital, expertise and industry networks.

The IoT Tribe SG Deep Tech Accelerator programme targets international and local deep-tech startups that are looking to expand in Asia, using Singapore as a springboard into the region. IoT Tribe supports startups in developing their Proof of Value and expose them to the IoT Tribe networks in Singapore, across Asia, and further afield to the UK and the EU, in order to prepare them for market expansion.

Startups in the first cohort include AtomBrush, Avirtech, Leorix, Meracle, Moaah, MyrLabs, PhonePass, Psion Insights, RisikoTek, SenzeHub, SmartBeings and WeavAir. The startups provide innovative technological solutions across various areas including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), Industry 4.0, Drones, Big Data, Robotics, Cyber Security, Smart Sensors, and serve a variety of sectors including the Government, Smart Cities, Energy, Transportation, Automotive, Manufacturing, Industrial, Construction, Banking and Finance, Healthcare, Hospitality, amongst others.

With headquarters in London, IoT Tribe will be running 3 cohorts of the Deep Tech Startup Accelerator programme in Singapore over 2020 and 2021. Together with industry experts, IoT Tribe’s programme will equip deep-tech startups with the essential knowledge in business management, business development & marketing, product & technology, and investment & fundraising, to accelerate their startups to the next level. As part of the curriculum, capacity building workshops, 1-to-1 business planning sessions, pitch coaching, marketing and business development clinics, data science and technology clinics will be conducted.

Corporate partners benefit from early access to ground-breaking technologies that support competitiveness, compliance and future growth.

Tanya Suarez, CEO & Founder of IoT Tribe said, “We are extremely impressed with the quality of the startups on our first Singapore Deep Tech cohort. They have an intensive 9 months ahead, but their technology, talent, and ambition will undoubtedly see them achieve great things in this time. We are very happy to welcome them to the Tribe and delighted to be able to offer this opportunity as Enterprise Singapore’s Global Innovation Alliance partner.”

Jonathan Lim, Director of Global Innovation Network, Enterprise Singapore said, “We are heartened to see the diversity in the deep tech startups participating the inaugural run on IoT Tribe’s Deep Tech Startup Accelerator programme. Under the Global Innovation Alliance, Enterprise Singapore works closely with IoT Tribe to facilitate market access for both Singapore-based startups, as well as international startups scaling up in Asia using Singapore as a springboard. Despite the current challenges, IoT Tribe has effectively adjusted the programme into a hybrid online-offline model to ensure that startups continue to receive support along their journey. We encourage more startups to tap our partners’ networks, to benefit from the rich experience and expertise of the mentors and industry experts for growth.”

Valerie Lim, Head of Programmes Singapore at IoT Tribe, who is leading IoT Tribe’s foray into Singapore commented, “We’re excited to be part of Singapore’s push for deep-tech, and work with startups in our cohort to accelerate their businesses together with corporates, investors, industry experts, and other ecosystem partners.”

As part of the Global Innovation Alliance initiative, IoT Tribe also runs the IoT Tribe SG Plus: London Tech Calling programme which assists in the internationalisation of Singapore-based growth-stage startups and SMEs into the UK and Europe. The programme includes capacity building in Singapore, a week of business-driven activities in the UK, and subsequent support to consolidate any resulting business opportunities.

IoT Tribe also works with corporates to accelerate the adoption of disruptive technologies and new business models. With a over 200 alumni globally and a network of experienced mentors, IoT Tribe sources the best start-ups and connect them with corporate partners, allowing corporates to understand startups’ fit with the business 3 times faster and with 5 times fewer resources than internal initiatives.
